COE - Center for Student Guidance - is an interdisciplinary team that assesses and diagnoses children and adolescents with development disorders and learning difficulties.

This project began in May of 1998, and our activity started to be developed at Hospital da Criança Santo Antônio (Children’s Hospital) on September 30, 2000.

The complex and multifactor symptomatology of the problems that involve a school successful performance need to be known and faced so as, from a correct diagnoses, we can establish the most appropriate guidance.

During staff meetings every case is carefully analyzed considering the reasons that brought the child or adolescent to be assessed.

At first we disregard organic causes that may be interfering in the quality of the learning, we review the tests that have already been done, and do not forget the environmental aspects.

This way, we aim at dimensioning the individual need of complementing the assessments reducing as much as possible the time spent and costs to the families, which are very often already burdened when they get to our screening service.
